2006-07 Objectives, Downtown Neighborhood Association
The following objectives were voted on by the membership and ratified by the
DNA Board Summer
2006.
Save the downtown movie theater
Advocate for the ongoing funding of
Streetscape.
- Provide input and participate in redevelopment
and potential uses of
City Hall site.
- Participate in any
redevelopment/expansion proposal for
- Fourth Avenue Church of Christ property
- O'More College of Design
- Methodist Church buildings/property
- Create a process for resident input
on proposed entertainment venues
downtown

Monitor condition of historic Court
House and encourage County to begin
restoration
Continue to advocate for Visitor/Welcome
Center downtown
- Support efforts to
establish a state tax credit for
approved restoration projects --
determine how DNA can be involved

Monitor all downtown infill development
proposals; review for sensitivity;
provide comment to Historic Zoning
Commission and Municipal Planning
Commission
Sponsor initiative to rezone section
between Bridge Street and North Margin
Street to High Residential (HR),
leaving a single strip of Office Residential (OR) on the north side of
Bridge Street
Continue involvement in planning and
visioning for downtown area parks:
Bicentennial, Harlinsdale, Pinkerton,
and Fort Granger.
Receiving single digit votes were
- Ensure pedestrian crossing signal at Third Avenue South and
South Margin is installed
- Consider expansion of DNA boundaries
